Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie whose most recent novel, “Americanah,” won the 2013 National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction spoke on the delay by the Nigerian Film And Video Censors Board(NFVCB) to certify the showing of the film adaptation of her book, ''Half Of A Yellow Sun''..She made a statement in her speech stating clearly that ''we can not hide from our history''.

Dubbed the film of the year, the movie ‘ Half Of A Yellow Sun ’ , which was earlier postponed from showing at the cinema from April 25 to May 2, has been postponed indefinitely. This is due to the refusal by the National Film and Video Censors Board to grant a certificate which will allow the movie to be shown in Nationwide Cinemas. Shareman Media, the Nigerian producers, and FilmOne Distribution, the Nigerian distributors, of the feature film, Half of a Yellow Sun, have also released a statement to that effect, announcing that when the certificate is issued, a date will be passed across. "The public release of Half of a Yellow Sun in Nigeria remains postponed due to the fact that the National Film and Censors Board has not yet certified the film. The release date will be announced once the Board has certified the film for release to the public.

Prints are definitely here to stay. Its also great to know that African prints have been a form of inspiration to a lot of designers all over the world. We spotted some    pieces from Zara inspired by African prints and next thing we saw his stunning Spring Collection by NYC based designer; Reuben Reuel. The Brooklyn, New-York based designer owns the Demestiks brand, known for the delicately perfect pencil peplum skirt, he did vibrant looks for  his Spring 2014 in African prints and they were gorgeous!  Check out pieces from the collection.

It seems to be a sad and unlucky year for the inhabitatants of Nyanya area in Abuja as a loud explosion which has been confirmed as a bomb blast was heard yesterday evening at about 7:50pm.This occured only a few metres away from the scene of the bomb blast at Nyanya park which claimed about 70 lives a few weeks back on 14th April,2014.It was also gathered that the bomb was detonated in a car just like the previous blast.According to eye witnesses and paramedics at the scene, a few have already been confirmed dead and many seriously injured.More details and gory pics after the cut.........

Peter Okoye of Psquare who is a die hard fan of Chelsea Football Club had to pay the huge sum of $5000 dollars to Phyno for losing the football bet after Chelsea lost 3-1 to Atlethico Madrid yesterday evening.
